Why did you decide to volunteer your time and knowledge to this project?

"When most of the work for my company was postponed, I immediately volunteered through the government callouts for engineering assistance but heard nothing back. Wanting to do something to help, I felt this project could make a significant difference quickly and save lives."

"Former academic research scientist in sensor systems. Past research projects included widely cited joint work with NHS Lothian on novel techniques for respiratory monitoring. Engineering background with degree in Electronics & Computer Science. 10 years experience running consulting business, specialising in rapid hardware & software development for commercial product design and scientific applications. Regular use of CAD/CAM & rapid prototyping methods, production use of injection moulding, regulatory testing to EU standards. Co-founder and Director of Edinburgh Hacklab, which provides prototyping facilities to members and the public."

Why did you decide to volunteer your time and knowledge to this project?

"Initially the motivation was to find ways we could help, and to put into use the various equipment we had available within the Hacklab, university and local businesses. As the scale of the problem became clear, my own focus shifted to how quickly we could transition to full scale manufacturing methods."
